Integration Courses

Welcome to Germany! If you want to feel at home and live here, you need to know the language. This is important if you are looking for work, need to fill out applications, support your children at school or want to meet new people. You should also know a few things about Germany, for example its history, culture and legal system. You can learn all this in integration courses that we run for the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF).

Each integration course consists of a language course and an orientation course and usually comprises 700 teaching units (one teaching unit = 45 minutes). The language course deals with important topics of everyday life (work and profession, housing, health, ...). You will also be prepared for the final examination (DTZ) of the integration course, in which you can receive a certificate with language level A2 or B1. The orientation course provides you with important knowledge about Germany (law, history, politics, culture). This knowledge is also tested at the end of the course in the “Living in Germany” test.
